Werner Emil Engel (1880, Thun – 1941, Thun) was a Swiss painter and graphic artist. He worked as a photographer until 1902 and then studied at the School of Applied Arts in Bern and Munich, where he was taught by Maximilian Dasio. In 1907, he went to Stuttgart and continued his education under Robert Poetzelberger. Study trips to Italy, southern France, and Paris followed. From 1905 onward, Engel was represented in various exhibitions, some in Paris, other works by Engel can currently be found in the art museums of Solothurn, Thun, and Bern.
