Albert Lugardon (1827, Rome – 1909, Geneva) was a Swiss historical and landscape painter. His teacher was the romanticist Alexandre Calame. Between the years 1849 and 1860, he stayed in Paris and Lyon for several study trips. From 1860 onward, Lugardon regularly participated in the Geneva exhibitions and the world exhibitions of 1867, 1878 and 1889; Lugardon was very successful with his paintings of high alpine landscapes. In 1855, he won the Art Prize of the Société des Arts in Geneva and in 1881 a medal from the Photographic Society of London for his photographic studies of human and animal movement. He was also a member of the Swiss Alpine Club and the Geneva Art Commission.
